Vice & Vanity is a jewellery design studio in Joo Chiat, Singapore where the feeling is that vice belongs in your heart and soul. But accessories usually look better on limbs, clavicles and on your vain outfits.

Lower East Side style of the ’70s and Lower East Side style of today look almost the same - people never stray from the basics. Taking a cue from the timeless simplicity of downtown New York, Chrissie Miller’s company SOPHOMORE caught the public’s eye with a single T-shirt design in 2003. She initially planned to make shirts exclusively for her friends, but the overnight success of her design and the attention SOPHOMORE received from celebrities, retailers and the press inspired Miller to think big.

Joining forces with designer Madeleine von Froomer, who most recently worked for Proenza Schouler, SOPHOMORE has expanded its offerings from a single T-shirt to a full collection of contemporary sportswear. SPREADING THE WORD

Jade Jagger and Katharine Hamnett have joined forces with the likes of the Scissor Sisters, Justice, Rihanna and Timbaland to create a new collection - Fashion Against AIDS - with H&M.

All the artists involved have participated free of charge to design a range of T-shirts, tank tops and hoodies for the project, which was initiated by charitable organisation Designers Against AIDS with the aim of raising awareness of the spread of HIV/AIDS among young people.

The pieces run the gamut from subtle patterns representing those affected to more overt means of getting the message across; a contribution from Hamnett - a T-shirt emblazoned with “Use a condom!” - is typically vocal.
“It’s a collection that’s rich in colour, with considerable commitment going into every garment,” explains H&M’s head of design, Margareta van den Bosch.
“The artists have created personal prints with a strong sense of style.”

And with a top price of € 12,90, there’s no excuse for not getting involved. H&M’s Fashion Against AIDS range will be available from February as part of its younger-end Divided label, with 25 per cent of the proceeds going to HIV/AIDS-prevention projects around the world.

Is God a DJ?

Steve began with djing when he was a small boy. Later at the age of 20 he created the label Dim Mak, including releases of the Klaxons, Whitey and Bloc Party so far.

“I’m fucking disco” fits in such a way quite well on Aoki, maybe this is the reason he probably has designed Shirts with statements like this.

The product turns two plastic bottles into a clothes hanger by screwing the bottles into the hook. By the concept that reuses empty plastic bottles, I try to present to consumers a realistic idea to address environmental realities and encourage the reuse of already “consumed” items to form a new functional product. The design incorporates the following features that make it practical and appealing to both producers and consumers: • Low cost, realistic commodity • The shape of the bottle provides more fit support for the shoulder of clothes than traditional ones • Inspire the interest of users: the concept will attract consumers and inspire a rethinking of consumption habits

Large quantities of disposable plastic cups are common site after any party. This is a modular structured system made of used disposable plastic cups and paper clips. In day time it functions as natural light source lighting and at night time it functions as light fixture with 220 volt light bulb situated inside the system. Similar to bee-hives structure this system can grow to any size and it is much stronger then its component.

Michael Perry works in Brooklyn, NY making books, magazines, newspapers, clothing, and drawings. He is currently curating two new books. He also recently started a magazine called Untitled a… That explores his current interests. Doodling away night and day, Perry creates new typefaces and sundry graphics that inevitably evolve into his new work, exercising the great belief that the generating of piles is the sincerest form of creative process…
