alex da corte..

July 29th, 2007 by kittylaboom

image_22alex_artist.jpg

Alex Da Corte is a Philadelphia-based artist who has studied film, fine art, and printmaking at the School of Visual Arts in New York and Philadelphias University of the Arts. Each of the disciplines he has studied manifests itself in his varied artworks.
Much of Alex’ current work started with wheat-pasting pictures of people carrying enormous ketchup bottles around the Philadelphia. This work was tied to an investigation of the everyday diner as a heaven-like environment. After dying on April Fools Day from a rare medical condition and permanently losing his intestines, the artists work changed greatly, though it still held on to some earlier religious themes. His new work utilizes a mixed-media approach, dealing with imagery of colostomy bags, Clark Gable, birthdays, snakes, and dead horses.
There is more good stuff to come, I love it!

keep..

July 28th, 2007 by kittylaboom

sole_main.jpg

Keep is a shoe company, a clothing company, an amalgam of interests, a way of being, a force, a language, a family and many other things. Their kicks are for ladies, though sometimes their promos are unisex, and plenty of dudes rock the shoes in larger sizes.

keep.gif

Keep is for all the women who have their game tight, who work hard to make things happen, who spread positivity and energy around them, who take care of their loved ones and most importantly take care of themselves.
Keep shoes are for those women who are tired of clown shoes, too many bells and whistles, and the misappropriation of the color pink.

All Keep products are cruelty free and produced in audited, certified factories.

July 22nd, 2007 by kittylaboom

Excess Is OK are a London fashion brand that’s been clothing the pop-elite since 2003. Designing one-off t-shirts for the likes of the Klaxons and Pete Doherty, their combination of tongue-in-cheek designs and bold prints have been gracing album covers and tour merchandise…

And they’ve even started designing women’s underwear.

Wii’ll not forget….

July 16th, 2007 by kittylaboom

Retro video game iconic heroes have been making a come back for some time now. From T-shirts through to shoes, we have seen the likes of Mario, Donkey Kong and dare we say their rival, Sega’s Sonic The Hedgehog plastering their pixelated faces all over some funky wears.

wii.jpg

Hot on the heels of this fad, gaming giant Nintendo have promoted their latest baby Wii in Italy with this interesting wall display created by a series of posted notes. Behind each not lies a message inviting the recipient to relive the 80’s through some classic games available on Wii. The post it notes make a nice 3D representation of a 2D pixel.

The One Piece concept has been seen on Nike Dunks and Air Force Ones, but now Adidas has given this simplistic approach a shot. They have taken the Gazelle and stripped it down to all white leather with stitches to show separation where the different panels are supposed to be. Available now at WeSoldOut!

tankbooks…

July 11th, 2007 by kittylaboom

tankbooks2.jpg

As one habit dies hard, another takes hold.
Tank is launching a series of books designed to mimic cigarette packs – the same size, packaged in flip-top cartons with silver foil wrapping and sealed in cellophane.
TankBooks pay homage to this monumentally successful piece of packaging design by employing it in the service of great literature. Cigarette packs are iconic objects, familiar, tried and tested, and over time TankBooks will become iconic objects in their own right. The launch titles are by authors of great stature – classic stories presented in classic packaging; objects desirable for both their literary merit and their unique design.
TankBooks are for people on the move, lovers of literature and connoisseurs of design. Try one and you’ll be hooked.

Titles:
Joseph Conrad “Heart of Darkness”
Ernest Hemingway “The Undefeated” and “The Snows of Kilimanjaro”
Franz Kafka “The Metamorphosis” and “In the Penal Colony”
Rudyard Kipling “The Man who would be King”, “The Phantom ’Rickshaw” and “Black Jack”
Robert Louis Stevenson “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”
Leo Tolstoi “The Death of Ivan Ilych” and “Father Sergius”

hidden art >>> mommys chair

July 9th, 2007 by kittylaboom

bild-2.png

Hidden Art Furniture is design to invest in. Luxury materials and classic or contemporary designs will enhance the interior of your home for many years, offering true value for money. Many furniture designer-makers make work to order, and this can be arranged with Hidden Art’s assistance. Or simply contact a designer-maker to discuss your ideas and requirements.

A mixture of traditional skilled methods and experimentation with materials characterises the innovations made by contemporary furniture designer-makers. Others specialise in creating distinctive pieces with digital processes which are available to order at short lead times. Furniture bought through Hidden Art will bring quality, comfort and original character into your home.

Part of a new collection inspired by children’s 2-dimensional drawing, Mommys Chair is suitable for dining (one of a set of four) or to be used as an occasional chair standing solo. The quirky collection consists of four different designs in red, green, blue and yellow. The red version is slightly shorter in height than the other chairs.

The seat colour remains matt white resembling the paper drawn on. The chairs are made from powder coated steel and are therefore suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

July 9th, 2007 by kittylaboom

simpsons-vans.jpg

Whenever you watch The Simpsons, you would see Bart Simpson skateboarding his way across Springfield in the opening scene. After watching this for so many years, it seems that skateboarding has become an integral part of The Simpsons. So for the upcoming Simpsons movie, The Simpsons have collaborated with Vans for something special. Currently, there isn’t much information on these but twelve artists including David Flores, Futura, Gary Panter, Geoff McFetridge, KAWS, Mr. Cartoon, Neckface, Sam Messer, Stash, Taka Hayashi, Todd James and Tony Munoz were enlisted for this project.
They will be available on July 14th so look out for more information to come!

In the meantime, you can create your own Simpsons avatar here.

Leaving Brooklyn???? *****FUGHEDDABOUTIT*****

July 5th, 2007 by T_double_E

Datz wut i´m talkin´bout!!!
That Marty Markowitz - he’s always coming up with sum new ´n crazy idea. Like signs at Brooklyn’z exit points that say, “Leaving Brooklyn…Fugheddaboutit.”
The NY Post reveals the wacky Brooklyn borough president’s thinking - “Once you enter Brooklyn, there’s no good reason why you should ever leave” - and goes on to point out that many Brooklynites (and sports teams) do leave in fact, and it’s possible that one in four Americans has roots in Brooklyn.

So anyone taking the Gowanus Expressway and Belt Parkway approaches to the Verrazano Narrows Bridge or the Belt Parkway and the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway near the Queens border can check ´em out.
